Step by Step: How I Built A Solar Generator For Less Than $300

This is how I built my solar powered generator for only 0.00. I provide step by step instructions on how to do it yourself. Please leave a comment let me know what you think. Just to answer some questions 1. I got most of my components on Amazon.com the others I got at auto parts stores and home improvement stores 2. For safety yes you should put venting holes in and yes connect the terminals to the inverter first prior to hooking them to battery. 3. To get more power get a bigger battery, charge controller, and a panel. 4. you can use this same setup as a wind powered generator using a dc motor and prop instead of a solar panel.

how to make homemade energy drinks?

We are partying all night for the 4th and were non alcoholic drinks..just fun energy drinks to keep us up all night we need ur help so tell us some recipes or energy drinks that we can make around the house.

admin answers:

Buy your favorite energy drink and look at the ingredients lol

Ken asks…

What gives Energy drinks their charactersitic flavor?

The flavor employed in energy drinks (such as Red Bull) is currently found in almost every energy drink. I’m wondering if anyone knows how to this make flavor or knows from where it is acquired. I’d like to add it to my healthy homemade energy drink for my family.

xx.

admin answers:

It’s probably either taurine or ginsing, or possibly a combination of the two. Energy drinks are always loaded with that stuff.

Helena asks…

how do you make simple homemade energy drinks?

admin answers:

The are small tablets you can get called effervescent tablets they fizz but have loads of vitamin c in them and can give you loads of energy also you can make a really simple smoothie with loads of fruit and juice.

Questions And Answers On Building A Solar Panel System

Paul asks…

Solar panel,anyone?

I would like to build a solar energy system but I don’t know where to go. Can you help me? I am from the Philippines. Electricity rate here is exorbitant. Where can I find a tutorial, a free kit, a manual, a guide about building a household solar energy system? Are there groups who can give free kits or are wiling to finance?I want to share to as many people as possible if ever I get a system for my home.

Solar Panel Prices – What’s The Cost To Build Or Buy A Residential Solar Panel?

I’m keen on building my own solar-powered alternative energy system in place this summer.

admin answers:

A single solar panel with 12V electric output costs between $100-250 to buy or build. Most of these are the portable variety (which cost less) and is a good way to reduce dependence on your utility company and generate your own electricity.

A residential solar panel mounted on rooftops costs more — like the 185-watt Mitsubishi panel which costs $1020. But with states like CA, MA, IL, AZ (and a lot others) giving you tax incentives up to 30% the installation cost, the reasons for going green are becoming more and more better.

Richard asks…

how much the capacity off the solar panels to produce 10A loud?

i need to built a solar system to produce 10A load in Baghdad (Iraq). the more important to me is the capacity off the solar panels. the working time is 10 hours.
working time 10Hours for 10A load after the sun out

admin answers:

You need to specify a voltage. If it is 240 volts, that is 2400 watts. If you want this to provide power when the sun is out, you need at least 3 times that capacity, and a large battery system.

What do you mean by “working time”? Any solar panel should last 20 years.

Edit: “working time 10Hours for 10A load after the sun out”

You still didn’t mention voltage. Assuming 240 volts, that is 2400 watts x 10 hours or 24000 watt-hours.

A large sealed lead acid battery, about $300, can store 1000 watt-hours, so you need about 30 batteries, allowing some extra for losses.

You would need a panel rated for 5 kW, a charge controller, the batteries, and an inverter. Probably US$ 30000

Questions And Answers On How To Make A Solar Panel At Home

Lisa asks…

Information on making solar panels?

I want to get definate instructions on how to make the components and convert my home to solar energy. I know I could hire some one to do this, but frankly I do not have the funds at my disposal to do it. I thought if I could find detailed instuctions I could slowly do it myself (with my husband’s help). I have looked into loans for this purpose to no avail. Finding the information on the net could take forever! If anyone knows a site that would give me the information or even a hint on how to start? Any help will be appreciated, but if you have any good links to good information please share them with me..Thanks

admin answers:

I doubt that you are going to want to learn how to dope your own silicon wafers, add contacts and laminate them into PV panels.  I also doubt that you’re going to even want the various chemicals to make e.g. Cadmium-based cells anywhere near your house (cadmium is a very toxic metal).  In other words, making your own solar panels is not an at-home project.

You can buy solar panels based on cells of several different types.  A link to a Pricewatch-like website for current prices on solar panels is below.  Mounting panels to roofs or pole mounts, running conduit and wires, and installing battery banks and inverters are within the capabilities of skilled laypeople.

More data at the links.

Edit:  I am reporting all of Agua-Luna’s cut-and-paste pieces as spam.  I encourage others to do likewise.

Jim asks…

Build a solar or wind propelled generator?

I want to know how to make a solar or wind propelled generator? First if i can make a solar and wind propelled generator and combine them to work at the same time. The solar panel can be around 12 volts. I just want to do this as a home project. I don’t want extreme power out of this. I am young but have a lot of experience with building electronics so keep it simple enough for me to do it.

admin answers:

Well i dont know much but i hope this will help, i whould imagine for the wind power you whould need the light propeler to be somehow conected to a magnetic generater. And for the solar power, well i dont know much about that but i hope to find out soon.

Graham asks…

Is there a way to make a unit to convert a gas to a liquid at home?

Ok, if I were to build a unit that could perform electrolysis and that seperated the hydrogen and oxygen into separate gasses (venting the oxygen into the atmosphere while collecting the hydrogen for use) all running on solar panels for electricity. What would I have to do to make a relatively simple unit that could convert this gas into a liquid for higher volume storage, much like propane is stored.

Note: And yes I know that hydrogen is very flammable. But for those of us who may not be aware of how light hydrogen is, if a leak were to develop on a storage tank that is outside the gas would not collect it would rise at a rate of around 35mph making it highly unlikely to endanger anyone or spreading to an area with an open flame like a hot water heater ect ect.
Note: Please realize this:

1. Any power used will be from solar panels so even if it takes more panels the amount of energy consumed is irrelevant to this experiment.

2. The storage would not be in a a garage or other facility, but in the open where no collection of trapped gasses is possible.

3) I will handle the codes neccessary, the idea is to overcome the obstacle of the process, such as does that $50,000.00 unit ( http://www.hgenerators.com/ ) but without the generation, just the compression…
Thanx Guru for your concern, I do appreciate it and I do want to let everyone reading this know not to try this at home, seriously. There are proper safety measures that need to be in place for safety, multiple inline 1 way check valves secondary “bubblers” and pressure relief measures in case flashback or inside cell arc occurs.

My unit is not to be placed inside a vehicle, that defeats the whole purpose for my experiment, and actually this is only the design phase, far from a working prototype. This is only to establish some data, thanx.
Please people, I know the materials that could be involved require special handling, I don’t require info on producing hydrogen or the byproducts, only the conversion from a gas to a liquid, remember this is an information gathering not a half baked jump in without counting the cost venture. Thank you for your concern though.

admin answers:

I suggest the information from the site below. It gives you some interesting data that you will need. One key item is the temperature that you will need to reach to liquefy hydrogen. It is about -253 degs C or -423 degs F. That is even colder than liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide. Getting down to those temperatures is no simple matter in terms of ability or cost. It requires special equipment some of which is noted in the article.

You could also store the hydrogen at high pressure but that also takes very special equipment because of the particular problems associated with compressing something that is so small it can escape the smallest of voids in a material.

Based on your question, you would do well to read up on the physical properties of hydrogen and problems associated with handling it at low temperatures or high pressures.
